A few weeks ago, Friday 9th October 2015, our creative director, Rafael, had the great honour of being asked to judge at the 8th Annual Australian Bachata Championship.
Competitors from around Australia came to demonstrate their technical skills as well as their ability to interpret and physically embody the true nature of Bachata music. Rafael and a selected panel of respected industry professionals had the difficult task of judging the “free style” portion of the competition for all professional, semi-pro, pro-am and amateur couples. Essentially, a demonstration of the couple’s social dancing skills as opposed to their choreographed routines which were assessed on the following night. The night naturally concluded with a dance party celebrating Bachata and its place in the Australian Latin Dance scene.
On behalf of the Go Dance family, we wish to acknowledge Rafael’s achievement in being selected to participate in such an illustrious event and as a school, we hope to see some of our students representing Go Dance at the Australian Bachata Championships in the near future.
