Sydney Salsa Palladium

6 hours of social dancing. Sounds terrifying when you see that number but it’s a walk in the park with well-earned blisters at the end of it.
At Salsa Palladium, there are performances on and off the stage, sexy style all over the place and faces that cannot stop smiling, it is just so incredibly fun.
“Incredibly fun” is probably an understatement when it comes to describing this fantastic event to be honest. When you walk into a room filled with 600 people who love Latin Dance, it’s exciting. You can feel the buzz; your body automatically starts moving and you become part of a world, a community, you never knew existed before. A community you never want to leave.
Go Dance had a crew of beginners and improvers come along for the event. We weren’t performing on stage but we were dancing our hearts out and having the best time in the Salsa and Bachata rooms; dancing with each other, as well as forming new friendships by meeting new partners to dance with as well as learn from (we never miss an opportunity to learns new moves).
When the dancing on the floor took a break to watch the performances, we all had our jaws
dropping in awe when International 7 times Salsa World Champion Mario Acosta Cevalles took to the stage and we all started dreaming about the day we’d be on stage when we watched the performances from other Latin Dance crews. Choreography envy and that little voice inside out heads- That could be me one day! AWESOME!!!
Mario wasn’t the only famous face on the night, we all got a little bit starstruck when one of
Australia’s most recognised actresses, Claudia Karvan, was standing mere feet away from us. Selfies were taken, the guys were all taking the opportunity to take her onto the dance floor and she had never danced salsa before. This goes to show that salsa is for all skill sets and you can set foot at Salsa Palladium having never danced salsa before and have a fantastic night.
That’s what Salsa, Bachata and all types of Latin Dance will give you. One hell of a fun night out, friendships, community, great music and maybe a couple of well-earned blisters.
